Last Friday, a meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, at which the state and prospects of development of cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Brazil has expressed interest in importing Russian wheat as soon as all phytosanitary issues are resolved. Therefore, Russia has proposed to intensify the work of the Russian-Brazilian Agricultural Committees, presumably to facilitate trade by solving phytosanitary problems.
Despite the fact that the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Brazil will start buying Russian wheat, this will happen only if all the necessary rules and phytosanitary issues are resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. How long it will take is unknown.
