Japanese scientists have developed a scheme for the cultivation of agricultural crops on any flat surface

This was announced by the Mebiol Development Center in Tokyo, where it became possible to grow fruits and vegetables on a seemingly ordinary transparent plastic film.

But according to the project director, Hiroshi Yoshioka, this film is not quite normal. It can absorb water through a hydrogel and transfer beneficial substances to the plant. Such a method is similar to growing with hydroponics, where growing on water plays a key role. But according to the creators, their method is much better than the one presented above, because the hydrogel uses less water during growth and also has “block-pores” that microorganisms and bacteria do not get into.
