Russia is ready to lease to foreigners 1 million hectares of agricultural land of the Far East

The Russian Federation intends to lease 1 million hectares of land located in the Far East to foreigners. It is expected that this will make the region more attractive for additional cash infusions, according to Valery Dubrovsky, director of the Far Eastern Agency for Investment Promotion and Export Support Department.

It is predicted that the farmers of China will be interested in the newly opened prospect of renting agricultural land in the Far East.

Experts estimate that 50% of the land will be occupied by Chinese tenants, 25% - Russian and another 25% - investors from other countries. As Valery Dubrovsky notes, some Chinese companies are already interested in the possibility of renting.

Soil, potatoes and wheat can be grown on land allocated for rent, as they are ideal for this, the agency shares.
