Brief description and distribution

Avran officinalis is a perennial herbaceous species of the family Norichnikie. The plant is widely distributed in North America and Eurasia, including in Russia and Ukraine. The natural habitat of the species can be considered both a steppe and a forest zone, and in the cold northern latitudes it grows exclusively in the valleys of large rivers. The stem is erect and branched, abundantly covered with lanceolate, sedentary, opposite leaves, which reach up to 6 cm in length and 1.5 cm in width. The rhizome of the species is articulate, abundantly covered with scales.

The flowering period of the plant begins from the end of May and lasts until the beginning of September. At this time, characteristic flowers appear in the axils of the leaves of the Avran, arranged on long stalks. At the base of their calyx are two elongated bracts. The calyx of the flower is pyatopolnaya, the corolla of the bell-shaped type with a purple vein and a yellow tube.

The first fruit-boxes appear in July, in the midst of flowering. The box has a pronounced brownish color and ovoid shape. Seeds ripen a huge amount. They are mostly brown or brown, small (about 0.8 mm) and have an oblong shape. The greatest number of representatives of the species grow on moist slightly acidic soils rich in humus substances.

Use in official medicine

The herb is one of the few plants that have found their place in medicine in its pure form, as well as the main active ingredient in the composition of medical preparations. The rhizome of this species is actively used as a laxative and diuretic agent. Avran root is also prescribed in the case of intestinal lethargy, as well as in hemorrhoids. This feature of the herb is the main secret of many successful drug treatment clinics.

Use in traditional medicine: recipes

Avran medicinal has found its use in traditional medicine much more widely than in official medicine. With the help of this plant, traditional healers treat diseases of almost all human systems and organs. Let us dwell in more detail on the most popular recommendations.

Important! The plant belongs to poisonous species, therefore it is recommended to take herbal ingredients in home medicine only after consulting with experienced doctors.

Diuretic

As a diuretic, this herb is simply indispensable in traditional medicine. In order to cause a characteristic clinical effect, it is necessary to prepare a special broth. To do this in equal parts mixed chopped roots and aerial parts. Approximately 1 teaspoon should be taken from the resulting mixture and the herb should be instilled in 300 ml of water on the steam bath for 30 minutes and then the amount of the liquid obtained should be brought to its original volume (300 ml). The maximum physiological effect on the body is achieved by drinking 1 tablespoon of the solution, no more than 3-4 times a day.

Laxative

In order to cause an acute laxative effect on the digestive system, it is necessary to ingest 0.2 g (at the tip of a knife) of grass powder, and then drink 100 ml of water. The mixture must be taken 3 times a day. You can also cook and concentrated decoction. To do this, 5 g of root insist on a water bath for about 30 minutes in 300 ml of water. The resulting liquid is adjusted to the original volume and take 1 tablespoon.

Plants such as gooseberries, asparagus, agave, horse sorrel, yucca, stems of purple, passionflower, and ash have a laxative effect on the digestive system.

Anthelmintic

To eliminate the worms from the body, folk doctors recommend using infusion. To do this, half a teaspoon of herbs is poured into a bowl with 200 ml of tap water, after which the mixture is boiled in a water bath for about 30 minutes. The resulting liquid is adjusted to the original volume and taken orally in 1 tablespoon every 20 minutes until a characteristic effect appears.

Bruises

In the case of tumors on the body, bruises with abundant hemorrhage under the skin and other types of bruises, it is necessary to chop the freshly cut avran into small pieces and grind to a practically uniform consistency. The resulting pasty substance is used as a compress for the affected parts of the body. During the procedure, it is not recommended to withstand more than 2-3 hours in one area.

Important! All work with fresh juice should be carried out in protective gear, and after handling it is necessary to wash hands thoroughly.

Heart failure

To stimulate cardiac activity and treat heart disease, a decoction from this plant is also used. To prepare it, 1 teaspoon of herbs is drawn in 200 ml of boiled water for an hour. After filtering in the resulting broth, you must add 2-3 tablespoons of starch (this will help mitigate the irritating effect of the decoction on the stomach and intestines). The resulting liquid is consumed in 40-50 ml no more than 3 times a day.

Preparation of medical raw materials

For the first-aid kit this medicinal species is harvested mainly in July, during the flowering period. To do this, cut off the top (aboveground part) of the plant. The rhizome during this period can not be harvested, because in it by this time did not accumulate a sufficient amount of necessary human substances. The ideal period for procurement of rhizomes of Avran medicinal is the first half of September.

In the first half of September, you can also prepare porcini mushrooms, milk thistle and rannet apples.

The species is distributed throughout Eurasia everywhere, however, the peninsula of Crimea and the Caucasus are considered to be the traditional regions for harvesting raw materials. When harvesting, it is important to know that in order to prevent the extermination of a species in its habitat area, at least 20-30% of the total number should be left. After harvesting the parts of the plant should be properly dried. To do this, the grass is dried on the street in the shade or in a well-ventilated area. Shelf life of finished raw materials is not more than 2 years.

Important! Collecting raw materials for beginners alone is not recommended, because for this it is necessary to know the botanical description of the species. Otherwise, you can pick a more poisonous plant, which further threatens health hazards.

Contraindications and side effects

It is recommended to use infusions and other remedies from Avran medicinal, with extreme caution, since such remedies are contraindicated for people with serious diseases of the digestive system. In irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer and gastritis, colitis and enterocolitis, it is strictly prohibited to take extracts from a plant for medicinal purposes. In pregnancy, Avran can be taken exclusively on the recommendation of doctors.

Also during pregnancy should not take purslane, safflower, levzey, garlic and yarrow.

Side effects from the application are observed only with an overdose of broths and other components of the plant. At this point, there is an increased salivation, stabbing pain in the abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, and in the most severe cases, kidney damage, respiratory arrest, and impaired cardiovascular system. If you are hypersensitive to the components of the plant, in addition to the symptoms listed above, acute allergic reactions of the skin can occur.

Important! In the dry state, the avran is as dangerous and poisonous as it is in the fresh one. Even the complete elimination of moisture from the plant does not reduce the activity of its components.

First aid for poisoning

In case of the first symptoms of an overdose, it is necessary to immediately induce vomiting. This will help to remove from the body that part of the substances that did not have time to spread through the body. Then you should drink a few tablets of the adsorbent (activated carbon will be the easiest option) and be sure to call an ambulance, since a strong overdose can even be fatal.

Avran officinalis is a powerful therapeutic agent of a wide spectrum of action. The plant has proven itself as one of the most effective ways to alleviate the course of many chronic diseases. However, it should be remembered that the Avran is, first of all, a dangerous and poisonous species that is capable of causing tremendous harm to the body. Therefore, the use of plant components must be exclusively under the strict supervision of doctors.
