Making a broiler drinker with your own hands

The maintenance of farm animals requires rather big investments, so every farmer wants to save at least on the purchase of equipment that can be made with his own hands. For a start, you can build a water bowl for boilers. To do this, do not even have to buy materials, because they can be found in almost every owner. What is needed for this is to find out further.

Types of drinkers

There are different drinkers, which differ, first of all, the principle of operation. Allocate cup, siphon, vacuum and nipple. The last two types are the most popular and convenient to use.

Important! When building a trough with your own hands, you need to take into account that, on average, a chicken drinks up to one and a half liters of water per day. Therefore, the size of the inventory must be appropriate to the number of individuals in the farm.
You can not think and in the old-fashioned way to put enameled or cast iron basins in the chicken coop, but they will always be dirty. Chickens are not very neat birds, they can bring hay out of the litter and other dirt there, and they need clean water, otherwise diseases can not be avoided. Therefore, it is better to spend time and effort and make a convenient drinking bowl for chickens.

Vacuum

Such drinkers are the easiest to build, easy to care for and change the water in them. Each looks like an inverted bottle in a bowl. It works according to a simple principle - the pressure does not let in more water than it needs, that is, the bowl is filled evenly and as it empties. Such a drinker can be reversed, so it is more suitable for chickens (they are small and can hardly do it with their weight). It is also better to take a bowl that will be no more than twice the size of the bottle. This will save water from rapid contamination.

Nipple

This is a more costly option than a vacuum drinking bowl, but at the same time it is he who reduces water pollution to nothing, since the liquid is in a closed container and flows out of it only when pressure is applied to the valve. The bird presses it with its beak, the locking mechanism is weakened, and water emerges from the nipple. In this case, you can not worry that the water will go more than the bird needs. This option is suitable for small individuals and for large ones.

Important! Install drift eliminators - this will save you a lot of water.

How to make a vacuum drinker

Try to make such a drinker yourself and install it in the hen house. Check whether this method of water supply is suitable for your household - if chickens do not turn over the drinker, they drink it easily, then you can leave this option.

Necessary materials

Take:

  • 2 caps with plastic bottles of 2.5 liters and 5 liters;
  • 2 medium bolts or screws;
  • awl;
  • knife;
  • glue gun and glue.

Build feeders and drinkers for chickens with your own hands.

Instruction

  1. Make 2 holes in the center of the large lid with a distance of 1 cm between them.
  2. Attach a large lid to a small stencil to replicate the same holes in the smaller lid.
  3. Insert the small cover into the large one and attach them with bolts in the places where we previously made the holes.
  4. Check that this design is easily curled on both bottles.
  5. Cut the neck of the 5th bottle of the second strip.
  6. Pour glue into the gun and wait until it starts to leak from the tip.
  7. Fill the glue in the middle of the smaller cap to cover the bolts. Do the same with the outside of the larger cover where the bolts come from — this will help create a seal.
  8. In a smaller bottle, make a hole at a height of 10 cm from the neckline - from there water will flow into the neck of a large bottle.
  9. Now we collect the construction of the drinker - we tighten the neck of the 5-liter bottle, we insert a smaller bottle into it, into which we have already collected clean water. The drinking bowl is ready.

Did you know? Chickens can only lay eggs in daylight or artificial light. Therefore, even if the time comes rushing at night, they will still wait for the morning.

If you did everything correctly, the water in the neck of a 5 l bottle should pour out exactly to the level of a hole in a small bottle.

Check out the simplest version of the manufacture of such a water supply system. You can handle in 5-10 minutes.

Necessary materials

Take:

  • 1.5 plastic bottle;
  • plastic bottle cap with the smoothest inner side;
  • 9 mm drill bit;
  • knife;
  • nipple;
  • wire;
  • Scotch.

Instruction

  1. Drill a hole in the center of the lid and insert a nipple in it, tightening it.
  2. Make a couple of holes on the bottom of the bottle so that air can flow in and the system works.
  3. Wrap a bottle of wire so that it can be attached to the grill and hang in the hen house.

You can do this procedure with a bottle of any size. It already depends on the number of chickens in the household.

Did you know? Chickens recognize spoiled eggs and push them out of the nest.

So, make yourself a system for supplying water to poultry easily and inexpensively. To do this, you need simple tools that everyone can find at home. For a nipple drinker, you only need to purchase a nipple system. But it will pay for itself, as the water will have to be changed less frequently, because it will stay clean longer.
