Pheasants are rare birds, the breeding of which as a business is just beginning.
In the process of their content, there are some peculiarities and subtleties that need to be known. We will tell about some of them in this article.
Why pheasants glasses
Pheasant - a bird that needs a large territory. One individual needs at least 2 square meters. Males are quite aggressive creatures and can arrange fights among themselves, and there are also cases when they drive their anger on females.

Surprisingly, in nature these birds are monogamous individuals that form permanent pairs. However, once in captivity, they become polygamous, so they should be settled as follows: 1 male and 3-4 females. Otherwise there may be fights. But not all farmers have a large area and appropriate conditions for maintenance. To solve this problem, you can use glasses (blinders) that are worn on birds. They will help avoid:
- fights and clashes between males;
- male attacks on females;
- egg laying;
- pulling feathers;
- eye damage.
Important! Glasses do not interfere with normal vision, but thanks to them birds will not see what is happening in front of them, but will use only side vision. According to experience, the use of points reduces the shit by almost 99%.
What are
Basically, glasses are made of plastic and there are 2 types:
- disposable, fastened with a pin;
- reusable clamping retainers.
Disposable (right) and reusable (left) types of glasses One-time blinders have several drawbacks:
- it is not always easy to pass a pin through the nasal opening;
- with the passage of the studs, damage to the anatomical hole may occur;
- the bird is in pain and discomfort;
- studs sometimes break, cling to the feeders and grilles, which can cause injuries and even death of the pheasant.

Important! The best option can be considered reusable blinders with a clip, which are easier to put on, do not injure the bird and are less likely to be removed.Points also have various sizes: "S", "M", "L" and others.
How to wear
Depending on what type of blinders, putting them on the bird is slightly different. To put on a device with a stud, you must do the following:
- Thread the pin into the hole on one side.
- Take a pheasant in order to fix its head well.
- Put the blinders on the bird and push the hairpin through the nasal passage so that it comes out on the other side.
- Thread the pin into the second hole of the glasses, thus securing them on the pheasant.
When pulling the stud through the nasal opening, you need to know that it will not enter exactly, so you must take into account the nasal septum tubercle.

Points of the second type consist of two curtains connected by a spring-loaded bracket. Inside the curtains there are 2 small pins that are inserted into the pheasant's nostrils. In order to put this device on, it is necessary to have a special tool: curved thin-nose pliers, which open from squeezing by hand. So, we carry out the following manipulations:
- Enter the "sponge" thin-nose pliers under the pins of glasses.
- By pushing the handles we part the blinders to the side.
- At the same time we hold the bird by the head and fix the beak.
- Aiming so that the pins hit the nostrils of the animal, insert them.
- We take out the thin-nose pliers from the pins.
These glasses do not injure the nasal septum of the pheasant and are safer.
