How to give a rabbit fresh and dried pear

Rabbit menu should include a variety of products, and we are not talking about any expensive food.

Apples and pears are the most popular and useful fruits in domestic farmsteads, and they can be used when feeding eared ones.

What you need to know about the nuances of this process, and what features to pay special attention - read on.

Can rabbits be given a pear

Pear contains a lot of easily digestible minerals, vitamins and carbohydrates, which perfectly increase appetite and strengthen the immune system. For this reason, it is not only possible, but also should be given to rabbits, both when breeding for agricultural purposes and when kept at home (in the case of decorative breeds). Both forms of delivery will be acceptable: fresh or dried.

Fresh

Rabbits (both decorative and agricultural) eat fresh pears with great pleasure, sometimes simply not knowing the measures.

It really activates the digestive processes, but it is not worth overpowering fluffies with it, since a large amount of fruit in the stomach can lead to flatulence and indigestion, with the result that the pet has an abdominal swelling and general well-being.

Important! Before issuing, rinse the fruit well in clean water and cut into slices, removing the middle part. This will make it easier for the rabbit to consume.

Dried

If possible, it is worthwhile to give out fresh fruits to your wards, but in winter, in their absence, dried slices may be used. However, in this form, the usual portion should be reduced several times, because the dried fruit contains much more sugar, and it cannot be called very useful for animals.

A large number of dried fruits can cause excessive weight and, as a result, heart problems.

Feeding rules

Each type of product has its own requirements and rates of issue, which simply need to be considered if you do not want to worsen the condition of your pets. Consider the main nuances of feeding rabbits a pear.

From what age can

Pear tree twigs begin to introduce into the ration of small eared males when they reach 2-3 months of age, and it is recommended to cut the shoots directly from the tree, and not pick up the fallen ones. Of course, they should not be treated with chemical compounds.

As for the fruits of pear, they are gradually introduced into the diet after 1.5-2 months of age, starting with very small parts and only in fresh form.

Did you know? Pear fruits contain a fairly large amount of antiseptic substances, which in their composition largely resemble antifungal and antimicrobial agents. Often, doctors recommend eating fruit to people with gastroenterological problems, however, separately from the main meal.

How to give

Fresh fruits are useful to be introduced into the eared ration several times a week, feeding ornamental breeds in 1/8 of a pear per 2 kg of live weight, and meat animals are slightly more than this value. As we mentioned earlier, in the dried form, this rate will have to be halved due to the high sugar content. Large farm animals are sometimes fed in half pears at a time, and farmers do not observe any negative effects.

However, even in this case, you should not get involved in such food, it will be enough to give it out eared 1-2 times in 7 days, preferably not more than 80 g per day.

What else can be given to rabbits

Pear has many valuable substances for rabbits, and they are contained not only in the middle of the fruit, but also in the skin and twigs of the tree.

Learn how to properly feed the rabbits, in particular in winter, and also whether it is possible to give the rabbits burdocks, nettles, bread and crackers, wormwood, beets, dill, pumpkin, and zucchini.

Pear skin

All kinds of rabbits eat pear skin well, the main thing is to prepare it correctly. When choosing, you need to pay attention to the uniform, not too shiny surface of the fruit, without any dents, spots or damage.

However, even having chosen the most ideal fruit, before issuing it to an animal it is necessary to wash it well and only then cut off the skin. As in the pulp, it contains a lot of nutrients that help strengthen the nervous system, normalize digestive processes and replenish the supply of such important vitamins as A, E, C, PP, B. The peel contains folic acid, fiber, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and zinc, which have a beneficial effect on all processes occurring inside the rabbit body.

Important! Rabbits can only be given the skin of a pear if you are sure that it does not contain pesticides and has not been treated with any chemical compounds.

Twig pears

Cut branches of the tree perform two important functions at once in the diet of eared pets: help sharpen teeth and improve digestion, helping to digest the food eaten. Nevertheless, not all eared favorably relate to such a sparse feed, preferring to chew on other tree species.

Whatever it was, but before issuing, remember to remove all the leaves and buds so that only one bare twig remains. The regular issuance of pear branches should not exceed 1 time per week.

Pear seeds

It was not in vain that we focused on the need to remove the midpoint of the pear, since the seeds cannot be called a very useful component of the fruit. They contain a large number of cyanides - toxic substances that adversely affect the functioning of many organs and systems of the rabbit. Of course, after eating a few seeds, he will not get a serious poisoning, but with regular use, the deterioration of his health will not be avoided. In order not to risk the pet's health, it is better to completely remove the entire center.

Did you know? In some states of Australia, rabbits are officially banned for breeding, as they are considered a national disaster. Every year they cause enormous damage to agriculture, which is measured in hundreds of millions of dollars.

In our country, domestic rabbits are considered a good source of tasty and tender meat, and ornamental varieties are increasingly found in the role of pets. That is why the main task of the breeder is to create all the conditions for their normal growth and development, and good nutrition is one of them.

The pear will help only to diversify the usual menu of eared ones, the main thing is not to forget that this is a delicacy and not the main food.
