Russian producers managed to raise prices for cabbage

White cabbage producers in Russia have once again been able to raise product prices this week, according to EastFruit experts. This step has contributed to the undying demand for vegetables, lingering for the past two weeks.

This week cabbage in Russia costs on average 40-50 rubles / kg ($ 0.61-0.77 / kg), which is 14% more than it was a week earlier, when its price started from 35 rubles / kg ($ 0, 54 / kg). Farmers were able to raise prices due to increased demand for the product, while its stocks in farms are rapidly declining. Competition with cabbage grown in Dagestan has also decreased, which also affects price increases.

  • In Dagestan, stocks of high-quality cabbage in storages are also reduced, as a result of which it has risen in price to 35-38 rubles / kg ($ 0.54-0.58 / kg). The entry of inexpensive cabbage from Iran into the Russian market has declined due to supply disruptions. Cabbage grown in Kazakhstan this week stands at 60-65 rubles / kg, which is $ 0.92-1 / kg. It is noteworthy that compared to last year, the price of cabbage in Russia is very high. In 2018, it was 4.2 times lower and amounted to 8-14 rubles / kg. Market operators predict another cabbage price hike next week.
