Europeans increasingly prefer to buy tropical fruits

The population of Europe is increasingly giving preference to exotic fruits, which makes them promising niche products of international trade. According to the CBI report, lychee, passion fruit, pitahaya, carambola, etc. were included in the list of especially beloved fruits.

The most popular fruit-exotic ones are called as such, since they do not grow in European countries. Therefore, they are called niche, because their purchases are limited and equal to imports, the report says. CBI employees found that the trend towards an increase in consumption of tropical fruits by Europeans has been observed since 2012. In 2017, 40,000 tons of products were imported to Europe.
