In Ukraine, onions went up significantly

The tangible increase in the demand for onions allowed the farmers of Ukraine to inflate prices, as evidenced by monitoring data conducted by EastFruit experts. Since the beginning of this week, the cost of onions has increased by 1-4.

More on the previous week, deals on the sale of onions were concluded taking into account the price of 10-14 UAH / kg ($ 0.37- 0.52 / kg). Today, even poor-quality vegetable prices do not fall below the 12 UAH / kg mark ($ 0.45 / kg). High quality onions, regardless of their country of origin, are sold for less than UAH 16-18 / kg ($ 0.60-0.67 / kg). Today onion in Ukraine is 4.5 times more than it was in the first days of April 2018

It is noteworthy that wholesale companies of the country are most interested in buying onions. But even they complain about a very small number of quality product offers. For the same reason, exporters avoid buying Ukrainian onions, which is why vegetable exports actually stopped at the beginning of this year.

Exporters were not able to pick up large enough batches of good quality onions for sale abroad. Earlier it was reported that due to weather conditions in 2018 was extremely poor for onions. And the harvested vegetables did not differ in high quality and good ease.
