"Alben": instructions for use for animals

Anti-parasitic treatment is an integral part of pet and farm animal care. The term "anthelmintic agent" is often applied to preparations that are used to remove intestinal parasitic worms. The drug "Alben" is a synthetic pill for worms of dogs, cats and farm animals. The drug is widely used in veterinary medicine and is usually administered orally. Antihelmintic affects infections caused by parasitic worms (helminths). The drug causes contraction and spastic paralysis, as well as damages the membranes of the helminth. This applies to flatworms, such as flukes and tapeworms, as well as roundworms (nematodes).

"Alben": composition and release form

To begin, consider the key characteristics of the drug "Alben", its composition and release form.

In the role of the active substance, the drug contains 20% albendazole and secondary elements. It is produced in the form of granules and tablets.

“Alben” in granules is put in bags of multi-layer paper, polymer cans or a bucket, in volumes of 0.05, 0.5, and 1 kg, respectively. "Alben" tablets are packed in cardboard containers or in plastic containers (25 and 100 pieces). 1 tablet "Alben" contains: albendazole - 0.25 g and praziquantel - 0.025 g, as well as secondary elements.

In 1 g of granules "Alben" you can find: albendazole - 0.2 g, as well as secondary elements.

Pharmacological properties and indications for use

"Alben" - antihelminthic drug of a wide range of pharmacological action. This anthelmintic is effective against parasitic flatworms and nematodes. Due to the ovocidal effect, the drug reduces the level of land contamination with helminths.

Did you know? "Alben" is not equally effective against all types of worms. Unlike nematodes (roundworms) and trematodes (digenetic flukes), tapeworms do not penetrate into the host tissue. As a result, infection with tapeworms is generally easier to treat than infections caused by worms penetrating host tissues.
The drug affects the nervous system of the parasite, inhibits the absorption of glucose by the helminth and, therefore, blocks the production of energy.

As a result, the parasite has spastic muscle paralysis. This process leads to the death of parasitic worms, as well as their removal from the body of the animal. Most of the drug is not absorbed from the intestines.

The following are indications for use "Alben" for farm animals (pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits and birds):

  • gastrointestinal helminths (nematodirosis, strongyloidosis, hemonhoz, ascaridiasis, bunostomiasis, hetercidosis, habertiosis, trichocephaliasis, esophagostomiasis, trichostrongylosis, cooperiosis, ostertagiasis, parascariosis);
  • pulmonary helminths (mulleriosis, dictiocaulosis, metastrongylosis, protostrongylosis);
  • cestodose (moniesiosis);
  • trematodosy (dicroceliosis, fascioliasis).

Drug benefits

The drug "Alben" has the following advantages:

  • a wide range of anthelmintic (antihelminthic) effects;
  • high performance;
  • single use;
  • reduction of land contamination;
  • usability.
Important! Before group treatment and preventive measures, each batch of the drug is pre-tested on a small group of animals. In the absence of complications for 3 days, you can begin deworming the entire population.

Instructions: dose and method of use

"Alben" is used for animals in the following doses:

  • Agricultural mammals are released at 7 mg per 1 kilogram, which corresponds to 3 g of the drug in granules per 80 kg of weight or 1 tablet per 46-48 kg.
  • How and in what doses to give "Alben" to piglets also depends on the weight of the animal. At 1 kg of mass, 10 mg of the drug is required, which corresponds to 1 tablet per 36-38 kg of live weight or 4 g of granules per 80 kg of pig.
  • Sheep and goats are prescribed 4 mg per 1 kg of weight, which corresponds to 2 g of granules per 80 kg of weight or 1 tablet per 30-35 kg.
  • Horses are released at 7 mg per 1 kg of weight. The dose corresponds to 4 g of granules per 80 kg of horse weight or 1 tablet per 40-48 kg.
  • "Alben" for chickens and other birds is prescribed at 9 mg per 1 kg of weight, which corresponds to 0.4 g of pellets per 10 kg or 1 tablet per 30-38 kg of poultry weight.
Consider also the use of "Albena" for the treatment of the worms of our pets (detailed instructions and dosage for dogs and cats may vary depending on each individual case). Both dogs and cats are prescribed a single dose of the medicine (one tablet per 5 kg of weight).

Tablets or granules are prescribed to animals without prior dieting and once. Antigelmintik enter them in two ways:

  • orally (placed on the root of the tongue);
  • in crushed form, mixed with saturated food.
The drug is prescribed individually or in groups. In the second case, the required dose of the drug is added to the concentrated feed. For agricultural mammals, as well as horses, the medicine is mixed in 0.5-1.0 kg of feed.
Important! With mass deworming, it is important to ensure that each animal has free access to feed with medicine.
For pigs, goats and sheep, the desired dose of anthelmintic is added to 150-200 g of feed. "Alben" for birds (chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigeons) is bred in 50 g of feed. Received drug collection must be filled in a day nursery with food for a group of 10 to 100 heads.

special instructions

Treatment for roundworms is complicated by the fact that some worms live in the blood, lymphatic and other tissues and, therefore, require the use of drugs that are absorbed from the intestinal tract and penetrate into the tissue. Other parasites are found exclusively in the intestines (intestinal nematodes). Funds used to treat infections are absorbed from the intestinal tract. When using these drugs can manifest tsevere allergic reaction or fever.
"Alben" must be used strictly according to the instructions, trying to avoid overdose. At observance of the norm specified by the producer, side effects or complications are not observed.
